Dear St. Luke Parishioners,
CHRIST IS RISEN!
I would like to take a moment to thank all of you for your prayers and support during the Great Lent, Holy Week and Easter holidays. Although, we could not be together in church, through the streaming of services we stayed together in prayer. I am grateful to God for that in this difficult situation.
We all hoped that by now we would be able to go back to our normal lives, including our church and prayer lives. Regrettably, that is not the case.
There is still an increase of the Covid-19 cases in Maryland in general, and more specifically in the vicinity of the church. For the past few days, I have been monitoring the number of new cases in Potomac, the neighborhood of the church (zip code 20854). Per Maryland Health Department, as of today, there are 97 Covid-19 cases in Potomac. Just a few days ago, there were only 73 cases in the same zip code. Moreover, in just one day, the State of Maryland has seen an increase of almost 1000 new cases of the disease!
This is a very serious situation and I would like to ask first and foremost for your prayers for everyone’s safety and quick recovery of those who have already fallen ill.
In view of this unfortunate development, I would also like to repeat my call to everyone to stay at home (as it is prescribed by law in the State of Maryland) and please join us in prayers online (either via our Website or via Facebook page streaming). All our services are live streamed.
Per the guidelines from the Holy Synod and the Episcopal Council, during the pandemic only five individuals who are helping in the services (chanters and altar helpers) can be physically present in church during services.
I ask for your prayers at this difficult time and ask you to please take utmost care to stay safe!
Above all, in the spirit of Christianity, let us think of our neighbors and all medical workers who are on the front-lines caring for those who are ill with the new virus, and let us do everything in our power to protect each other from the disease. This self-sacrifice and care for the neighbor is also a form of Christian love and virtue.

ХРИСТОС ВАСКРСЕ!
Желео бих најпре да вам се захвалим на молитвама и подршци током Часног поста, Свете и Велике недеље и Васкршњих празника. Иако нисмо могли да будемо заједно у цркви, били смо заједно у молитви захваљујући преносу богослужења уживо.
Надали смо се да ће се до сада наши животи вратити у нормалу, укључујући и наш духовни и црквени живот. Нажалост, то још увек није случај.
У држави Мериленд, као и у непосредној околини цркве још увек имамо стални пораст броја заражених коронавирусом. У протеклих неколико дана, пратио сам број нових случаја заразе вирусом у Потомку, где се црква налази (zip code 20854). Према званичном извештају Maryland Health Department, до данас имамо 97 пријављених случајева заразе у Потомку. Пре само неколико дана, имали смо само 73 случаја у истом месту. Штавише, држава Мериленд је само у последља 24 сата регистровала скоро 1000 нових случајева заразе коронавирусом!
Ово је веома озбиљна ситуација и молим вас најпре за ваше молитве за заустављање епидемије и за брзо оздрављење оних који су се разболели.
У светлу овог непријатног развоја догађаја, желим да поновим позив свима да остану у својим домовима (као што је законом прописано у држави Мериленд) и да нам се придруже у молитвама путем интернета (преко интернет или Facebook странице нашег храма). Сва наша богослужења се преносе уживо.
Према упутствима Светог Синода и Епископског савета, током пандемије само пет особа које помажу током службе (појци и чтечеви) могу бити физички присутни у цркви.
Препоручујем се вашим молитвама у ова тешка времена и молим вас да са највећим опрезом чувате себе и своје ближње од заразе!
Изнад свега, у хришћанском духу, старајмо се о својим ближњима, као и о медицинским радницима који изгарају бринући се о болеснима, те учинимо све да заштитимо једни друге од ове болести. Лична жртва и брига за ближњег су такође врлине и израз хришћанске љубави.
