Dear Parishioners and Friends of our St. Luke Serbian Orthodox Church of Washington, D.C.,
This year our church and parish is celebrating the 60th anniversary since its official registration and incorporation. Our spiritual ancestors who established the parish delegated three representatives to sign the articles of incorporation in the District of Columbia, the Nation’s Capital, on May 10th 1961. The original signatories were Dan J. Andrich, Dr. Nikola Nikolich, and Janko N. Jankovich. We are immeasurably grateful to them for their vision, the fruits of which we are enjoying now.
May the memory of all the founders and benefactors of our parish be eternal and may God grant them life everlasting!
Through the prayers and intercession of His Most Holy Mother and Holy Apostle and Evangelist Luke, our father, protector, and benefactor, our Merciful God has been saving us our parish for six decades through many challenges.
We constantly offer prayers of gratitude to God, Mother of God, and Saint Luke for the countless benefactions which we received and continue to receive. May God continue to bless all our parishioners and friends of our community, through whose generosity of spirit our church continues to thrive.
We would like to share with you a copy of the original Certificate of Incorporation (please, see below), a document that is of greatest value to us, both in the historical and also emotional sense.
At this occasion, the prayerful words of Vespers echo especially aloud: ” Confirm, O God, the Holy Orthodox Faith, and Orthodox Christians, and this sacred church, unto ages of ages!”

Драги парохијани и пријатељи Српске Православне Цркве Светог Луке,
Ове године наша парохија прославља 60. годишњицу од оснивања и званичне регистрације. Наши духовни преци, који су установили парохију, делегирали су потписивање званичних докумената 10. маја 1961. године у Вашингтону, главном граду Америке, тројици представника: Дану Ј. Андрићу, др Николи Николићу и Јанку Н. Јанковићу. Неизмерно смо и захвални на њиховој визији, чије плодове ми сада убирамо.
Нека је вечан спомен свим ктиторима, оснивачима и добротворима наше парохије!
Молитвама и заступништвом Пресвете Богородице и Светог Апостола и Јеванђелиста Луке, нашег оца, заштитника и добротвора, Милостиви Бог спасава нашу парохију кроз многе недаће и невоље већ шест деценија.
Стално узносимо захвалне молитве Богу, Пресветој Богородици и Светом Луки на безбројним даровима које смо примили и које и даље примамо. Нека би Бог наставио да благосиља све наше парохијане и пријатеље наше заједнице, чијом дарежљивошћу наша црква и парохија наставља да напредује.
Желимо да поделимо са вама копију званичног документа о регистрацији парохије (видите испод), који је од највеће вредности за нас и у историјском и у емотивном смислу.
Овом приликом молитвене речи са Вечерњег богослужења посебно јако одјекују у нашим срцима и уму: “Утврди Боже, Свету Православну Цркву, Православне хришћане и свети храм овај у векове векова!”
