Serbian Singing Society Lira
Serbian Singing Society Lira’s mission is to propagate and perpetuate Serbian choral music.
St. Luke Serbian Orthodox Church has always had a dedicated group of singers that have enriched the Divine Liturgy for as long as there has been a parish in the Washington D.C. metro area. In May 2018, the current members committed to becoming a more organized group within the parish. The first step was to adopt a name. Serbian Singing Society Lira was chosen as lira is a beautiful instrument which has its origins in both the Bible and Serbian musical history. A constitution and set of by-laws were adopted and an executive board was elected. The choir is now also a member of the Serbian Singing Federation of the United States and Canada.
